Nicole’s unique process seamlessly integrates traditional techniques such as embroidery and fraying, enriching the canvas with a tactile and multidimensional surface.

This pleated series was born from my days as a fashion design student and was inspired from masters in pleating and textiles design.

The predominantly monochromatic palette emphasizes the topography of her paintings, allowing for the interaction of light, form, and texture to shine.

For this winter-inspired series, I wanted to create my dimensional, organic compartments with more complexity. The tighter structures represent the onset of a cold, dark winter (Winter Solstice I) but they end with the sewn structures (Winter Solstice III) that open up to new beginnings.
