Ahead of his exhibition at Art on Paper, Jackson Joyce gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his new work.

These works on paper are a continuation of Jackson's ongoing series titled "songs about ghosts", in which the artist captures quiet moments of often inanimate objects that have a living presence.

This series started to take shape during my residency at the Waldoboro Inn in Maine. Day dreaming and exploring an unfamiliar place, finding little moments that capture my attention.

Three paintings of tablescapes and chairs by artist Jackson Joyce installed on a white wall in his studio.

Often exaggerating proportions and color to convey off-kilter narratives, Jackson’s paintings occupy an imaginative world all their own.

This series is part of an on going body of work I'm calling 'songs about ghosts' where I focus on ordinary things that have a kind of breathing presence.
