A custom porcelain installation on a white wall by artist Christina Watka.

The Dylan on Fifth Avenue is a luxury residential building in Midtown that offers a quiet retreat in a bustling neighborhood. They wanted artwork to warm up the previously stark lobby and fireplace. Uprise Art artist Christina Watka's site-specific porcelain installation emphasizes the lobby’s natural light and atmosphere by using low-relief sculptural undulation to encourage a visual conversation between density, mass, lightness, and air.

Each porcelain piece is sculpted by hand, using one quick motion with a knuckle, finger, or fist, similar to a single brushstroke by a painter.

Christina installed during busy hours so that residents could experience the work develop into a final complete piece as they came and went.
