21 West End is a residential oasis unlike any other, rising alongside the Hudson River. Masterplanned by Christian Portzamparc, with experience design by our friends at ICRAVE and architecture by SLCE, 21 West End is more of a neighborhood than a building, and Uprise Art curated artwork for the many communal spaces within it. Anna Beeke's Sylvania series anchors the expansive library and Chad Kouri's Jazz Movement Studies are a fitting accompaniment to the piano bar. For the game room and the indoor "park", artist Tony Sjöman created large works on panel as well as a sweeping mural, which hides the door to the building's speakeasy.

I always do the opposite to what I initially find as the next logical step in my work. If I get too comfortable it’s a warning and means it’s time to go the opposite route to what I was planning.
