Blake Aaseby, J.C. Fontanive, Paola Rodriguez Arias & William Storms

Blake Aaseby (b.1991) is an artist living and working out of the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his BFA from Azusa Pacific University. Blake’s work is an attempt to understand and explore memory, location, and place through various forms of mapping and layered mark-making.

Paola Rodriguez Arias (b. 1975) is a visual artist and designer based in Geneva, Switzerland. With a background in fashion, jewelry and ceramic design, Paola’s inspiration for her current textile-based works are informed by her upbringing in Colombia and its rich tradition of handicraft. Paola creates her work through a meticulous process of coiling yarn onto panels to create symbolic compositions that incorporate references to found objects, figures and the natural landscape. Though the meditative act of constructing her compositions, Paola’s work is inherently contemplative, allowing her to imbue the work with votive-like meaning.

Working across a range of media, J.C. Fontanive is interested in movement, cinema, and mechanics, both literally and metaphorically as an attempt to try to understand the designing force of nature and evolution through time.

In William Storm's practice, handwoven sculptural works show the influence of both hand and machine processes, encouraging reflection on how narrative forms through material, method, and disruption.
