Influenced by the traditional craft and folk art of Aomori in northern Japan, Misato Suzuki creates paintings that combine familiar figures and abstract forms. In her newest works, part of her Punkt (dots) Carnival and Peace of Mind series, Misato presents two opposing yet complementary bodies of work that celebrate the energy of maximalism and the solitude of minimalism.

The ‘Punkt (dots) Carnival’ series revives memories of childhood with its celebration of life through a resplendence of colorful dots. These dots are simultaneously lights, a mass of people, a flock of birds—the colors of life’s many carnival events.
