“My process normally has the same three steps – I create all of the elements within a piece first, think about composition second, and then color third. With balance and negative space as my main intentions, I start to lay those elements out as if it were a collage. Once I get comfortable with the feeling of the composition, I start to work with color to get to the emotions I am trying to elicit.”
“This body of work is especially liberating for me as it's my first time working with gradients on canvas, and I felt a whole new world opening up for me as I was painting these.”
“Most of my past work has been created using limited color palettes that felt comfortable to me, but this was the first series of paintings where I allowed myself to create a body of work using colors outside of my comfort zone.”
