Utilizing stencils to render silhouetted plant forms alongside expressive brushstrokes contained within a graphic perimeter, this series draws inspiration from the lush, abundant gardens at MacArthur Place during Anna Koeferl’s residency. Take a look behind the scenes of her time in Sonoma below as captured by Emma K Creative.

These patchwork pieces evolved from layering abstracted vine forms onto structured planes. Walking around the gardens at MacArthur Place, I was inspired by the prism of color that emerged from architecture and nature interacting with one another.

Ivy and trellising plants became a recurring motif throughout all my sketches. I loved how they enveloped the grounds at MacArthur Place.
