Utilizing stencils to render silhouetted plant forms alongside expressive brushstrokes contained within a graphic perimeter, this series draws inspiration from the lush, abundant gardens at MacArthur Place during Anna Koeferl’s residency. These patchwork pieces evolved from layering abstracted vine forms onto structured planes. Walking around the gardens at MacArthur Place, I was inspired by the prism of color that emerged from architecture and nature interacting with one another.
