Dan Covert’s sophomore solo exhibition with the gallery furthers his exploration with molding paste, using it to build impasto, gestural surfaces that contrast with his precisely CNC-milled, wall-based geometric forms. These works foreground the human hand and moments of chance imperfection within his otherwise tightly controlled practice.
Dan Covert (b. 1981) is a Brooklyn, New York-based artist interested in pushing the emotional and formal limits of abstraction. Dan utilizes a graphic language of organic and decisive forms, and his work explores structuring and ordering these abstract shapes so they appear composed, yet spontaneous. His process leverages digital techniques to sketch and iterate forms, which he ultimately renders with meticulous detail using analog means.
