Angel Oloshove (b. 1981) creates work that often experiments with painterly materiality, using atomized glazes to achieve surprising form and color. Her sculptural ceramics balance the priorities of functional, designed pottery against more transcendental qualities. Her 2015 exhibition Floating Worlds was selected as a Critic’s Pick for the April issue of Art Forum the same year. Her work has been included at the inaugural Texas Design Fair in Houston as well as Gallery Hanahou in New York, Front St. Gallery in Oakland, and several arts institutions across Japan. She was a finalist for the 2015 Houston Artadia Award, a nominee for the 2016 Joan Mitchell Foundation grant, and an incoming artist for the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft 2017 Artist’s Residency program.
