I attribute much of my visual language to a need for specificity, not only in the precision of how I paint, but in the subject-matter as well. That is to say, what I present in a painting is often of a certain time and place personal to me. I'd like to think that because of my desire in trying to specify the allure of these moments of mundanity, there can be an experience that viewers will find poignantly familiar and significant.
