Lydia Bassis (b. 1977) is an abstract artist living and working in Seattle, WA. Originally trained as a printmaker, her narrative paintings employ an invented language of personal symbols.

She has shown at Jacob Lawrence Art Gallery, Seattle, WA; Kraushaar Galleries, New York, NY; Cole Art Center, Nacogdoches, TX; and most recently at the Temple Beth Am in Seattle, WA. Her works are included in multiple collections, notably the New York Public Library, the Amity Art Foundation, and the University of Washington Special Collections and Print Collection. Bassis has been awarded residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Women’s Studio Workshop of Rosendale, NY, among many others. Her works were featured in New American Painting in 2012.

Bassis received her MFA from Rutger’s university, and her BFA in Printmaking and BA in Art History from the University of Washington.
