“In this paintings from my Forms series, I explore the edge between representation and abstraction through experiments with form, composition, color and pattern. These works are process driven. During the process I enter in an intimate dialogue with the painting: at times I guide it; other times it guides me. Through this dialogue I “carve” out forms. Piero Passacantando (b. 1979) is an interdisciplinary artist. In 2014, Piero partook in The Hive at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts with his project MyNerva. From 2012 to 2014 he performed his project I Paint You. You Paint Me. at Bric Arts, Ed Varie, the Brooklyn Museum, Art in Odd Places and the DUMBO Arts Festival. In 2012, he was a resident at the Summer Decompression Camp at the Corniolo Art Platform in Corniolo, Italy. In 2011, he was a Create Change Fellow at the Laundromat Project in NYC. In 2010, he received a Fulbright Grant to research Thangka painting in Kathmandu, Nepal. Passacantando holds an MFA from the California College of the Arts, San Francisco with a concentration in Social Practice, and a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington, DC. He lives and works in New York, NY.
