“The collage I made in preparation for the painting 'Persistant Pathways' includes a drawing done by my youngest son. It's just a quick scribble, but it symbolizes so many things; innocence, joy, persistence.” — Nina Stolz Bellucci
Nina Stolz Bellucci (b. 1983) is a mixed-media artist and painter whose abstract works are inspired in part by the idiosyncrasies of light and shadow. Originally working in an elaborate staging process where photography and found objects were used to create models for her painting, her practice has expanded in recent years to feature the same effects in layered, mixed-media works where references like the sky peaking through a window or shadows cast from a plant onto a wall are obscured and transformed to create textural, hi-chroma meditations on still life and landscape. At once grounded in the logic of naturalism and the poetry of association, her works also offer a modern trompe-l’oeil ripe with personal symbolism. She currently lives and works in Newton, MA with her husband and two children.
