Ky Anderson (b. 1973) creates paintings which inhabit their own unique space and draw inspiration from both traditional and contemporary sources. Straddling the line between abstract and representational imagery, Anderson’s works are often personal narratives consisting of layered forms, colored washes, and line work illustrating the visible and invisible connections between the weights, pulls, and supports of the landscapes we inhabit. Her work contains elements of refined craft while embracing an intuitive spontaneity - she does not think of a narrative before starting a work, but instead lets them develop organically. Anderson lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and has had solo exhibitions in New York, Kansas City, and London, along with numerous group exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe.
