“During this time, with social distancing, and the need to stay home with my family, it has been vital for me to carve out time to be alone in my studio. I reflect on the state of the world, and how I am physically and mentally navigating through it. Feeling minuscule and obsolete, but knowing that all our combined actions make major impacts on the lives of so many throughout the world. Every single action has a ripple effect, no matter the magnitude. These works have been serving as mantras to me, repeating themselves into melodic and mathematical mappings with spiritual or energetic interpretations. The compositions represent different forms of movement as vibrations at various frequencies and amplitudes either joining, weaving, pivoting, rotating, or shifting together. These are movements, as a collective whole, that are needed greatly right now in all of our lives. While the compositions are referential, the process for me remains the same as it always has, it is a ritualistic meditation - slow & methodical. A time to let go and release.” — Katrine Hildebrandt-Hussey
Katrine Hildebrandt-Hussey (b. 1982) is a Boston-based visual artist whose work is inspired by sacred geometry and the metaphysical mapping of space and time. Katrine achieves the geometric patterns in her work by burning her paper surface, allowing for chance to influence her ordered forms. Marked with intentionality and meticulous detail, Katrine’s work investigates the correlation between chaos and order, permanence and transience, and the interconnectivity of the universe.
