“I had two objectives for 'Disjointed.' One was to create an extremely simple configuration, but one that was simultaneously very bold and would command attention. Secondly, unlike my other compositions in this series, I wanted it to feature two shapes that maintained a strong sense of balance despite being fragmented and asymmetrical.” — Jason Trotter

Jason Trotter (b. 1972) is a Los Angeles-based painter focused on large-scale, multi-panel works. Using sharp lines with abrupt transitions between different areas of color, his compositions are derived from daily life, intended to evoke an instinctual, physical reaction from observers. The correlation of shapes from panel to panel permits more complex interactions of form to create singular compositions.
