“Grounded was inspired by Grimm's Six Swans, which concerns a princess who must keep a vow of silence for six years while making six shirts in order to break an evil spell that had turned her brothers into six swans. Any grouping of three is symbolic, so I wanted to suggest [the female figures'] state as something universal or timeless. At the same time, I also gave them roller-skates, bringing them back to a contemporary context.” — Fay Ku
