Fanny Allié (b. 1981) is a French mixed media artist and printmaker based in Brooklyn. Originally trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, her practice encompasses collage, collography, and public sculpture. Her work consistently features found materials and figural elements, occasionally reusing print elements from collagraphy in her mixed media collage. Her subjects themselves are imaginary characters inspired by underground and unseen human figures, or reference the human figure through an abstraction of the body, where the fragmented being is composed of the substance of the city itself. In this way, her work reveals a recurring interest in the afterlife of materials and imagery and the evocative potential of transforming the familiar.
