Evan Bellantone (b. 1987) is a printmaker and artist who attempts to find parallels and bring together concepts of drawing, nature, and ecology. He chose woodblock prints as a primary medium after noticing the wood texture making cameo appearances in art throughout history - from Renaissance trompe l’oeil paintings to early Braque and Picasso still lifes. It was this unexpected way to depict nature in art that struck Bellantone, who began creating prints where the wood grain was the primary subject. Bellantone lives and works in New York City. He completed his undergraduate in art at Bard College in 2010 and is currently an MFA Candidate at Hunter. He has shown his work at the International Print Center of New York.
