“My father had a wood shop when I was a kid and I loved watch him transform pieces of nature into usable objects. I picked up a few tricks while assisting him and over the years had a desire to get back in the shop. As my painting practice took shape I wanted to challenge myself with new means of making work, so naturally wood was a good place to start.” — Dan Covert
Dan Covert (b. 1981) works in a graphic language of organic and decisive forms. His work explores structuring and ordering these abstract shapes so they appear composed, yet spontaneous. His process leverages digital techniques to sketch and iterate forms which he ultimately renders with meticulous detail using analog means. Covert lives in Brooklyn, NY.
