“I have always been fascinated with the beginning of the story... the genesis, the why. The forms in my work are inspired by essential elements that become different things.” — Christian Nguyen
Christian Nguyen (b. 1968) was born in Saigon, Vietnam and soon after immigrated to New York City. His painting uses architectural structures and transforms them into symbols, forms of color and light, and opens the interpretation of their meaning into a personal language. He received his Masters of Fine Arts at Hunter College and has received the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant and the Emerging Artists Fellowship Grant from Socrates Sculpture Park. He currently teaches Foundation at Parsons, the New School of Design, and Pratt University. Nguyen lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
