Trina Turturici
Trina Turturici tells us about her uniform, specificity, and using small screens to see the big picture.
I use the shapes of ordinary objects and landscapes that I see in my daily life as a way to explore materials through working intuitively. Blurred edges, broken shapes, transparency, and texture, work together to suggest landscape, portrait, figure, and object.
About the Artist
Trina Turturici (b.1986) is a Los Angeles based artist working in drawing, painting, and animation. Her process involves alternating between working spontaneously and from direct observation, which results in an uncanny and surreal portrayal of everyday life. Using a blend of varied forms, textures and colors, she creates otherworldly dreamscapes out of simple objects and figures. Her works are infused with symbols, messages and imagery, both purposeful and accidental. Trina was born in 1986 in San Jose, California. She received her BFA in Drawing and Painting from CSU Long Beach in 2010 and her MFA in Painting from Boston University in 2013.
