In my work, I move quickly and methodically, removing dust jackets and hard covers from old books, then searching for pages without type and selecting those with solid swaths of a specific palette. It is a process of elimination - the sound of ripping paper is music.
About the Artist
Amy Berlin (b.1976) is a Dallas, Texas-based artist who creates assemblage works from vintage book pages and found paper ephemera. Amy’s work is informed by her background as an English major, former creative agency owner, and avid reader. Her profound appreciation for books has inspired her collage-based practice and interest in combining inconspicuous materials into new configurations, imbuing them with novel meaning.
