Melissa Arendt (b. 1984) is in an artist who is in a constant state of creation, whether through painting, illustration, or graphic design. Her work is characterized by clusters of colorful cells composed of familiar images (astronauts, crocodiles, cactuses) juxtaposed with lined pencil illustrations of people, places, and other elements that intrigue her. The artist enjoys forcing these visual elements together within her clusters, thus creating a new whole, and her work actively encourages chance associations of disparate visual elements. Arendt studied graphic design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and has exhibited widely across the U.S.
