Liesl Pfeffer’s (b.1979) work is rooted in the relationship between physicality and photography. Using tactal and analog methods of photography, from collage to cyanotype, Pfeffer explores alternatives to interacting with photography through a screen or through a lens. Pfeffer’s transformative processes, either in capturing a photo or in the subsequent dissection of it, question the idea that a photo captures reality as it is. Pfeffer is from Brisbane, Australia and is currently based in Berlin, Germany. She holds a Bachelor of Photography from the Queensland College of Art, a Bachelor of Fine Art from Monash University, and has exhibited internationally.
