Kristin Texeira (b. 1988) fashions abstractions of her interactions with both persons and places. She often incorporates color, sketching, and writing to creatively capture, document, and preserve memories. The artist begins with personal writing before focusing on color to translate these stories into paintings. Her works take the form of what she calls “memory maps,” which attempt to remedy nostalgia and serve as vessels for viewers to relive certain moments again and again. Texeira graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010 and has been awarded residencies in the U.S. and abroad. She has exhibited across the country and abroad and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
